Israeli Deputy Knesset Speaker Moshe Feiglin Calls for Ethnic Cleansing of Gaza
JULY 25, 2014
While the world recoils in horror at the sight of Israeli troops slaughtering Palestinians by the hundreds, one high-ranking Israeli parliamentarian says his country should go further and implement its own final solution in Gaza.
In an Arutz Sheva op-ed, Moshe Feiglin, deputy speaker of Israel’s Knesset (parliament) and a member of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party, outlines his horrifying “solution in Gaza.”
Feiglin, who is banned from entering Britain for “seeking to provoke terrorist acts,” calls for an all-out attack on Gaza with “no consideration for ‘human shields’ or ‘environmental damage.’” He also advocates a “total siege” on Gaza, as if the current siege isn’t total nor devastating enough in its impact on the 1.8 million residents of the world’s largest open-air prison.
After the ‘ultimatum,’ ‘attack,’ ‘siege’ and ‘defense’ phases of Feiglin’s “solution,” we move to what he calls the “conquer” phase.
“The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) will conquer the entire Gaza, using all the means necessary to minimize any harm to our soldiers, with no other considerations.”
That means we’d surely be witnessing more slaughter of innocent men, women, children, infants, the elderly, the ill and the disabled, as if there’s not already enough of that going on in Gaza.
And for what? For Zionist lebensraum and cheaper rent in Tel Aviv:
“Gaza is part of our land and we will remain there forever,” asserts Feiglin. “It will become part of sovereign Israel and will be populated by Jews. This will also serve to ease the housing crisis in Israel.”
Relax, Gazans, Feiglin isn’t a monster. His ethnic cleansing plan, so similar to that of Israel’s founders who committed horrific massacres and destroyed hundreds of Arab villages during the original quest for Jewish lebensraum, offers Palestinians this olive branch:
“Those who personally accept upon themselves Israel’s rule, substance and way of life of the Jewish State in its Land, will be offered Israeli citizenship.”
A tempting offer, no doubt, the prospect of eventual second-class citizenship in a nation born by ethnically cleansing Palestine and causing the refugee crisis directly leading to today’s war.
Sadly, Feiglin isn’t the only prominent Israeli official to advocate accelerating the ethnic cleansing of Palestine. Earlier this month, far-right Knesset member Ayelet Shaked posted a bloodthirsty call for the extermination of the Palestinian people, “including its elderly women, its cities and its villages” (shades of ’48 again), on her Facebook wall. She got more than 5,000 “likes.”
Michael Ben-Ari, another far-right lawmaker, urged Israeli troops preparing for the last invasion of Gaza to show no mercy toward any man, woman or child they encountered.
“There are no innocents in Gaza… Mow them down,” he said. “Turn it into rubble. Paint it red.”
Agreeing, IDF Major Gilad Sharon, son of Israeli war hero and “man of peace” Ariel Sharon, who once upon a time commanded a unit that, according to Time magazine, “shot every man, woman and child they could find” in multiple civilian massacres in his and Israel’s youth, proposed the total destruction of Gaza and everyone in it.
“Flatten all of Gaza,” urged Sharon, just like “Hiroshima.”
With elected officials, military commanders and even religious leaders —Safed chief rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu, a state employee, has called for Palestinian children to be hung from trees, and the late Sephardic leader Rabbi Ovadia Yosef proclaimed that non-Jews exist only to serve Jews —so willing to demonize and dehumanize Palestinians, it’s no wonder that calls for the ethnic cleansing of Gaza are accepted in a nation that was, after all, built upon a foundation of ethnic cleansing.
